JPEG 2000 JPIP
The JPIP standard is designed to speed optimize network viewing of user selectable resolutions and areas of interest on JPEG 2000 images. The advantage of this client-server technology is the speed at which regions of interest of any image are delivered and viewed, at a desired resolution, without having to download the entire image file. This JPIP technology is clearly demonstrated in the JPEG 2000 Web Demo and is available in the PICTools MedX and PICTools Photo SDKs.
